Located in the heart of Florentin, the Gluska factory is the only cement tiles manufacture in Israel. The business his held by Avner Gluska and his son Adi but their story goes way back to when the first tiles factories were brought to Israel,
in Yafo, in 1891.
Yaakov Gluska, Adi’s grandfather worked at the Chelouche - brother factory for two years before starting his own independent business in 1922 in central Tel Aviv.
In 1942, he moved his business to Florentine and the factory has stayed there ever since, as generations passed by.
Today, the Gluska family is not limited to tiles, furniture like tables or sinks are also part of their personal magic. Their factory includes around ten people and it is their aim to pass on the knowledge of making cement tiles as it is an art that is getting lost.
The materials used for the colours are cement, quartz, water and oxydes. The elements are all mixed together and the tiles are made one by one with the help of a stencil. The next and last step is a machine pressing all materials together. Seeing the showroom was in itself a really enjoyable moment as the variety of tiles they own is more than impressive. However, what we appreciated the most was to see the way they make the cement tiles, a whole fascinating process!
AS YOU ARE HERE, YOU CAN
FEEL THE FAMILY ENVIRONMENT
OF THE FACTORY, CREATING
A UNIQUE ATMOSPHERE.
Last but not least, meeting Avner and Adi Gluska was fantastic and we highly recommend to visit the showroom where they expose their different tiles, each one more beautiful than the other.
